How to use car controls to control the CarPlay car of Apple phone
The CarPlay vehicle works with the vehicle's onboard controls, such as a touch screen, knob or trackpad. For information on how to operate the display, refer to the owner's manual that came with your vehicle. (You can also use Siri to control the CarPlay car.)
Open the App: Tap the App on the touch screen, or turn the knob to select the App, then press the knob.
Switch between CarPlay Car Dashboard and CarPlay Car Home screen: The CarPlay Car dashboard displays several items you may need to view or control, such as driving directions, audio playback, and Siri suggestions. The CarPlay Car home screen displays all of your CarPlay car apps by page.
To go to the CarPlay car home screen, tap the Home screen button on the touch screen, or turn the knob to select the home screen button, then press the knob.
To go to the CarPlay in-car dashboard, tap the dashboard button, or turn the knob to select the dashboard button, then press the knob.
Return to the vehicle's home screen: If an icon with a vehicle logo is displayed on the CarPlay car home screen, select it, or press the physical home screen button of the vehicle radio, if equipped.
Return to the most recently used App: Tap the App icon on the edge of the touch screen, or turn the knob to select the App icon, then press the knob.
See more apps: If you have more than eight apps, some may be displayed on other pages on the CarPlay car home screen. To view these apps, swipe to the left on the touch screen or turn the knob. (See Using other apps with CarPlay.)
Quickly scroll through the list: Tap the letters in the list on the right side of the touch screen, or turn the knob.
Control audio playback: Use the audio playback controls on CarPlay's in-car dashboard. Or from the CarPlay car home screen, select "Playing" to view and control the current audio App.
