What if I forgot my Apple ID password

What if I forgot my Apple ID password

The fastest and easiest way to reset your password is to use your iPhone or other trusted Apple device. Since you're already logged in with your Apple ID on these devices, we know it's your device.

You will need to set a screen lock password on your device (or login password if it's a Mac).

Reset your Apple ID password on your iPhone or other trusted Apple device
Go to Settings.
Tap your name > Login & Security > Change Password.
In the Login & Security Settings on your iPhone, you'll see the option to change your Apple ID password.
Follow the on-screen instructions to reset your password.
You can also follow this process on a trusted iPad or Apple Watch.

To reset the password on a trusted Mac, choose the Apple menu  > System Settings > [Your name]. Then click "Login and Security," "Change Password," and follow the on-screen instructions.

If you are using a new Apple device, or an Apple device that is not logged in with your own Apple ID, you can display the "Forgot password or don't have an Apple ID?" Select this option at any location.

During device setup, you can find "Forgot password or don't have an Apple ID?" on the Apple ID login screen. Options.

After setting up, you can find "Forgot password or don't have an Apple ID?" in "Settings". Options:

iPhone or iPad: Go to the Settings App and tap Sign In to iPhone. Then tap "Forgot password or don't have an Apple ID?" And follow the on-screen instructions.
For Mac: Choose  > System Settings from the Apple menu. Click Sign In with Apple ID, then click Forgot Apple ID or Password? And follow the on-screen instructions.
Reset your Apple ID password on the borrowed device using the Apple Support App
If you don't have an Apple device but have access to a trusted phone number, you can borrow an Apple device from a friend or family member, or you can use an Apple device from an Apple Store store.

On the borrowed Apple device, open the Apple Support App. If necessary, you can download the Apple Support App from the App Store.
Scroll down to "Support Tools," then tap "Reset Password."
Tap "Other Apple ID."
Enter your Apple ID. If you forgot your Apple ID, you might be able to use your own email address or phone number.
Tap "Next" and follow the on-screen instructions to reset your password.
Any information you enter will not be stored on this device.

Reset your Apple ID password on the web page

Where possible, the web flow will direct you to a trusted device.

If you don't have a trusted device, you can still reset your password on the web page, but the process may take a little longer. If you have access to one of your trusted devices soon, you may be able to reset your password more quickly and easily.
