The legend of the West Lake Dragon Well
Legend has it that when Emperor Qianlong went down to the south of the Yangtze River, he came to the foot of Shifeng Mountain in Longjing, Hangzhou, to watch the villagers picking tea to show their appreciation of the people's feelings. On this day, Emperor Qianlong saw several villagers picking tea in front of more than ten green tea tents. As soon as I picked a handful, suddenly the eunuch came to report: "The queen mother is sick, please return to Beijing quickly." When Emperor Qianlong heard that the Empress Dowager was sick, he put a handful of tea leaves into the bag and rushed back to the capital day and night. In fact, the Queen Mother only ate too much delicacies from the mountains and seas, and her liver fire rose for a while, her eyes were red and swollen, and her stomach was uncomfortable, and she was not seriously ill. At this time, when he saw the emperor coming, he felt a fragrance coming, so he asked what good things he brought. The emperor also felt strange, where did the fragrance come from? He touched it casually, ah, it turned out to be a handful of tea leaves from Shifeng Mountain in Hangzhou, which had dried up after a few days, and the rich aroma was emitted. The Queen Mother wanted to taste the taste of tea, the palace maid brewed the tea, the tea was sent to the Queen Mother, sure enough, the fragrance was fragrant, the Queen Mother took a sip, her eyes were suddenly much more comfortable, after drinking the tea, the redness and swelling disappeared, and the stomach was not distended. The Queen Mother said happily: "The tea leaves in Hangzhou Longjing are really a panacea. Emperor Qianlong saw that the Queen Mother was so happy, and immediately sent an order to go down and seal the eighteen tea trees in front of the Hugong Temple at the foot of Shifeng Mountain in Longjing, Hangzhou, as imperial tea, and pick new tea every year to pay tribute to the Queen Mother. So far, there are still eighteen imperial teas preserved in front of Hugong Temple in Longjing Village, Hangzhou, and many tourists to Hangzhou have made a special trip to visit and take pictures.
"The beauty of tea is Longjing", and Longjing tea is especially the most beautiful in West Lake Longjing. The legend of the West Lake Longjing is also very beautiful. During the Qing Dynasty, Emperor Qianlong toured the south six times, and visited the Longjing tea area four times to see tea farmers picking tea and making tea. Legend has it that this tea-loving longevity once picked tea himself. He took some tea buds picked in the old Longjing Temple of Hugong Temple in the book and brought them back to the capital and dedicated them to the Queen Mother to watch. The Queen Mother liked the tea buds flattened by the book, and designated such a tribute tea, and since then, Longjing tea has maintained a unique bookmark shape. Nowadays, when traveling to Hangzhou, you can also see the 18 old tea trees that grew outside the gate of Hugongmiao Mountain, which were picked by Emperor Qianlong and given as "imperial tea".
