Chapter 39 Raiyin Temple Nyorai gives the true scriptures
After Wukong rescued the Kou, he continued to rush with the master, and walked for six or seven days, when he suddenly saw the tall buildings in front of him towering and the cloud pavilion soaring to the sky, Wukong said, "Master, the place to learn the scriptures has arrived, Master quickly dismount." When Tang Seng heard this, he hurriedly dismounted, walked to the pavilion, and a Taoist boy stood at the gate of the mountain and asked: "The person who came is a person who learns scriptures from the east soil!" ”
Wukong recognized him as the golden-topped immortal of Yuzhenguan at the foot of Lingshan, and hurriedly told the master that after Tang Seng stepped forward to salute, Daxian led Tang Seng and his apprentices into the temple, and asked the child to burn incense soup to bathe Tang monk, saying that in this way he could ascend to the Buddha land. The next day, Tang Seng changed to brocade? Robe, holding a tin staff, bowed to the Great Immortal, and the Great Immortal led Tang Seng to the Dharma.
Tang Seng and his apprentices walked forward for five or six miles, and saw a big river rolling in waves, about eight or nine miles wide, with no people and no boats, Tang Seng was shocked and worried. Wukong saw that there was a bridge in the distance, so he pulled the master over, but he didn't expect it to be a single-plank bridge, and the plaque next to the bridge read: "Lingyundu" three words.
Tang Seng didn't dare to cross and wanted to find another way. Seeing that the master and the junior brother did not dare to cross, Wukong jumped onto the single-plank bridge, staggered over, and shouted, "Come here!" But the master and the younger brother still didn't dare to cross, so they ran over and pulled Bajie up the bridge, and Bajie was so frightened that he lay on the ground and said, "It's too slippery, I can't get over." ”
At this time, I suddenly saw a person holding a boat coming, and when the boat came to the shore, Tang Seng and his apprentices found that it was a bottomless boat. Wukong's eyes were sharp-eyed and recognized that it was the Buddha who was holding the boat, but he didn't say it. Tang Seng was afraid and did not dare to get on the boat, so he quoted the Buddha and said, "Although the boat has no bottom, it can help all living beings throughout the ages." ”
Tang Seng was still suspicious, and Wukong took advantage of his inattention and pushed him onto the boat. Tang Seng was unsteady on his feet, fell into the water, and took the Buddha to pull him to the boat. Tang Seng complained about Wukong while shaking his clothes. At this time, Wukong had already pulled Bajie, Sha Seng and White Horse onto the boat. With a gentle push, the boat sailed quickly to the opposite shore.
When the boat reached the center of the river, a dead body suddenly floated upstream. Tang Seng was taken aback when he saw it, Wukong, Bajie and Sha Seng pointed to the corpse and said, "Master, don't be afraid, that's you!" After a while, the boat passed Lingyundu, and after the master and apprentice went ashore, Wukong told Tang Seng that the person just now was the Buddha, and the master had taken off the mortal womb.
The four masters and apprentices continued to move forward, and soon they boarded the stone road leading to Lingshan, and came to the gate of Leiyin Temple. When the four King Kongs saw Tang Seng busy saluting, one of the King Kongs said, "The holy monk will wait for a while, and wait for me to go in and say goodbye." After speaking, he reported to the second door.
On the second gate, he reported to the third gate. The three monks hurried to the Daxiong Treasure Hall and reported to the Buddha. After hearing this, he was very happy, and called the eight great bodhisattvas, the four great vajras, the five hundred arhats, the three thousand revelations, the eleven great yao, and the eighteen garans to line up in two rows, and then sent out the golden decree to summon the Tang monks and apprentices into the hall.
Tang monks and apprentices came to the Daxiong Treasure Palace, saw Rulai turned down and bowed, presented the customs clearance document and said: "According to the will of the Tang Emperor, come to worship the true scriptures, in order to help all sentient beings, I hope that my Buddha is merciful, give the true scriptures as soon as possible, and return to China."
The Buddha told the story of the scriptures.
If you come to ask Ah Ao and Jia Ye to take the Tang monks and apprentices to fast, after fasting, go to the treasure pavilion to receive the classics. After Ah Da and Jia Ye led Tang Seng to read the name of the scriptures, they asked Tang Seng if he had anything to give them, and Tang Seng said that he had come too far and did not bring anything. Ah Da and Gaye smiled and said, "Okay, I'll give you the scriptures for nothing, it's too cheap for you!" ”
When Wukong saw that they refused to preach the scriptures, he cried out, "Master, let's go to the Buddha to sue them." ”
Ah Da and Jia Ye hurriedly said, "Don't scream, come here and get the scriptures." Bajie and Sha Seng persuaded the senior brother, turned around and took the scriptures, put them in the bag one by one, and carried them on the horse, and the rest were wrapped into a burden, which was carried by Bajie and Sha Seng.
Tang monks and apprentices thanked Rulai, bowed to the gods and immortals, and went down the mountain to hurry. As he was walking, he suddenly smelled a burst of fragrance, only to hear a loud noise, and a big hand stretched out in mid-air and took all the scriptures away.
Frightened, Tang Seng complained again and again, Wukong took out the golden hoop stick, jumped on the cloud and chased over.
It turned out that the ancient Buddha on the treasure pavilion heard the scriptures passed on by Ah Ao and Jiaye, and knew that what they passed to Tang Seng was a wordless scripture, so he asked Venerable Baixiong to deliberately rob the scriptures, so that Tang Seng could come to get the true scriptures with words again. Seeing Wukong chasing after him, Venerable Baixiong hurriedly tore the sutra bag to pieces, threw it away, and then went back to report to the ancient Buddha.
The four Tang monks and apprentices hurriedly cleaned up the scattered scriptures, opened them and saw that the scrolls were all white paper, Wukong thought that this must be Ah Da and Jia Ye did not get anything, and deliberately passed it to the wordless empty book. Decide to go to the Buddha to complain. So, the four masters and apprentices returned to Leiyin Temple.
After listening to Wukong's speech, the Buddha smiled and said, "I have known this for a long time, because the scriptures cannot be passed on casually, nor can they be taken casually. It turned out that the monks asked for three buckets and three liters of gold to give lectures to others, and I thought he wanted too little. This is a wordless scripture, but you people in the East can't understand it. ”
Ah Ao and Jia Ye passed the golden decree to the scriptures, and they came to the treasure pavilion of the scriptures, and they still asked for things. Tang Seng had no choice but to take out the purple gold bowl and give it to them. Ah Wei took it, smiled slightly, Jia Ye entered the pavilion to get the scriptures, Tang Seng shouted: "Apprentices, take a good look, don't be like last time." ”
If you come to invite the Buddhas and holy monks of Lingshan to hold a meeting to spread the scriptures, after the transmission of the scriptures will be dispersed, send away the Tang monks and apprentices, Guanyin Bodhisattva said to Ru: "The success of learning the scriptures will take fourteen years, a total of five thousand and forty days, and now there are still eight days." "If you are busy ordering the four great vajra to send the holy monks back to China in the clouds, and then send the Bible back within eight days.
The four great golds just caught up with Tang Seng and shouted: "Those who learn the scriptures, follow me!" Tang Seng and the others, together with the white horse, immediately fluttered and rode on the clouds. After a day and a night, Jiedi caught up and said something in King Kong's ear, and after King Kong heard it, he held down the wind, and the four Tang monks fell to the ground with their horses.
It turned out that when Guanyin Bodhisattva checked the book of difficulties on the way of Tang Seng to learn the scriptures, he found that the ninety-nine Buddhas returned to the truth, and Tang Seng only suffered eighty difficulties, and there was one less difficulty, so he ordered to reveal the truth to catch up with King Kong, so that Tang Seng would encounter another difficulty. After Tang Seng and the others landed, they found that they had come to the west bank of the Tongtian River, and they could not find the boat and bridge, so there was no way to cross the river.
Suddenly, I heard someone shouting: "Tang Shengseng, come here!" The masters and apprentices looked up and saw a big white-headed turtle poking its head out on the shore and shouting, "Master, you have just come back, and I have been waiting for you for several years." Tang Seng and the others got on the back of the turtle together as if they were going to the west and drove straight to the east bank.
The old turtle was on all fours in the water, like walking on the flat ground, when he was about to reach the east bank, it was a little dark, and the old turtle asked Tang Seng: "That year, I asked the Buddha when I would be able to cultivate my human body, did you ask?" Tang Seng concentrated on learning the scriptures and forgot to ask, so he lowered his head and didn't dare to answer. The old turtle got angry, shook his body, and sank into the water. Tang monks and apprentices all fell into the water.
Fortunately, not far from the shore, Tang Seng has taken off the mortal womb and has not sunk, the white horse is a dragon, Bajie and Sha Seng have good water nature, Wukong has great magical powers, and they helped the master to land on the east coast. Suddenly, there was a gust of wind, lightning and thunder, sand and gravel flying, Tang Seng and apprentices were busy holding down the prayer bag, and Wukong was guarding with a stick.
The four masters and apprentices worked hard all night, and the wind stopped at dawn. When the sun came out, they hurriedly opened the prayer bags to dry the scrolls. A fisherman found them and hurriedly called Chen Cheng and others from Chenjiazhuang. When Wukong and Bajie saved the children of the Chen family, Chen Cheng was not ungrateful, and invited Tang monks and apprentices to rest in the village.
It was difficult to resist the enthusiasm, Tang monks and apprentices packed up the scriptures, and came to Chenjiazhuang with Chen Cheng, and all the men, women and children of the village went to the entrance of the village to greet them. After having dinner at Chen's house, Tang Seng was about to say goodbye, and the Chen brothers and the people of the whole village were not allowed to leave, and Tang Seng and his apprentices spent the night in the village that night.
That night, Tang Seng guarded the scriptures and did not dare to leave a single step. In the middle of the night, he called his apprentices up, led the horses, and carried the burden, so that Wukong managed to open the gate of the village and follow the path to the east. At this time, King Kong's cry sounded in mid-air again. "Runaway, follow me!" Suddenly, Tang monks and apprentices rose into the air with horses.
In less than a day, the Four Great King Kongs sent his master and apprentice to Chang'an, the capital of the Eastern Tang Dynasty. The Four Great Vajra said, "Holy Sang, in order to lose our bodies, we will not go down, and the three of them will not need to go down. You will come back after passing on the scriptures yourself, and go back to Lingshan with us to pay the decree. ”
Wukong said, "Although your words are reasonable, my master can't carry the burden alone, and he can't lead the horse.
We have to send him. Vajra said, "Guanyin Bodhisattva has stipulated eight days to return, and now there are more than four days, so go and return as soon as possible without delay." After speaking, he put the four Tang monks on the ground.
Since Tang Taizong sent Tang Seng away in the thirteenth year of Zhenguan, he asked people to build a prayer tower outside Chang'an Chengguan, and came here every year. On this day, Taizong just came out of the palace to the Wangjing Tower, and suddenly saw the West full of Ruiqi, and wafted a burst of fragrance, and saw Tang monks and apprentices coming from a distance, and hurriedly led the civil and military officials downstairs to greet them.
Tang Seng saw Taizong and hurriedly bowed, Taizong picked up Tang Seng and asked, "Who are those three?" Tang Seng said that he was an apprentice on the way, and Taizong was very happy and hurriedly asked them to go back to the palace together. All the people in the city knew that the people who had learned the scriptures had returned, and they came out to greet them. The monks in Hongfu Temple, where Tang Seng originally lived, were even more happy.
After Tang Seng entered the court, he asked Wukong, Bajie, and Sha Seng to carry the burden, take out the scriptures, and pass them to Taizong by the officials. Taizong asked about the process of learning the scriptures, and Tang Seng made it clear one by one: After walking 108,000 miles, after 14 cold and summer, through many kingdoms, Tang Seng asked Wukong to take out the customs clearance document and present it to Taizong.
The next morning, Tang Taizong said to the ministers, Tang Seng's merit is great, he didn't sleep all night, thought of a preface, ready to give it to him, at that time asked someone to write it down, and then summoned Tang Seng to the temple, handed the preface to Tang Seng and said: "In order to thank you for your merits, I thought of a preface, I don't know if it's good or not." Tang Seng hurriedly kowtowed and thanked him.
Taizong asked Tang Seng to recite the scriptures again, and Tang Seng said that if you want to talk about the scriptures, you must find the Buddha land. Taizong hurriedly ordered the officials to hold several volumes of the scriptures and send them to the holy Yanta Temple. Taizong personally went to the Yanta Temple and listened to the Tang monk chanting. Tang Seng ascended the high platform and was just about to recite, when the four King Kongs appeared in the air and shouted: "Chanting, go back with me!" ”
Tang Seng heard the shout and was hesitating, Wukong, Bajie, Sha Seng, and the white horse were already swept into the air by the incense wind. Tang Seng had no choice but to put down the scriptures and follow the sky into the sky of the nine heavens, so panicked that Taizong and the civil and military officials hurriedly knelt down and bowed to the air.
The four great King Kongs drove the incense wind, took the Tang monk and apprentice and the white horse back to Lingshan, and brought it for exactly eight days. At this time, all the gods of Lingshan came to listen to the Buddha's lecture, and the four great King Kongs led the Tang monks and apprentices into the hall, met the Buddha, and paid the golden decree.
If you come to call the Tang monk and apprentice to the front of the seat, you will be crowned. Tang Seng was named the Buddha of Zhantan Merit, Sun Wukong was named the Buddha of Fighting and Defeating, Zhu Bajie was named the messenger of the Pure Altar, the Sand Monk was named the Golden Arhat, and the White Horse was named the Eight Heavenly Dragons. After the enthronement, the Tang monks and apprentices were all happy and kowtowed to thank him.
If you come, you will also order Jiedi to take the white horse to the back cliff of Lingshan to turn into a dragon pool. He pushed the horse into the pool, and immediately, the white horse turned into a golden dragon and flew out, coiling around the pillar of the Optimus watch in the mountain gate. Wukong asked the master to remove the golden hoop from his head, and Tang Seng said, "You have become a Buddha, so naturally you will go." Wukong raised his hand and touched his head, and sure enough, it was gone.
From then on, the Buddha of Zhantan, the Buddha of Dousheng, the messenger of the Pure Altar, the Arhat with the golden body, the Heavenly Dragon Horse, and all the Buddhas, Bodhisattvas, holy monks, Arhats, Jiedi, Bhikshus, Upasa, Upasa, the gods of the caves, the great gods Dingjia, Gongcao, Garan, the land, and all the enlightened teachers and immortals have returned to their respective positions here.
