Jingwei reclamation
Emperor Yan had a daughter named Nuwa. The girl is very well-behaved, and when the Yellow Emperor saw her, he couldn't help but praise her, and Emperor Yan regarded the girl as a famous pearl in his palm.
When Emperor Yan was not at home, the girl played alone, and she very much wanted her father to take her out to the East China Sea, where the sun rose. But because my father was busy with his business: when the sun rose, he came to the East China Sea and did not set the sun; Every day, I can't take her there. On this day, the girl didn't tell her father, so she rowed alone in a small boat to the place where the sun rose in the East China Sea. Unfortunately, there was a sudden storm on the sea, and the mountain-like waves overturned the girl's boat, and the girl unfortunately fell into the sea, and was finally swallowed by the merciless sea, never to come back. Although Emperor Yan missed his little daughter, he couldn't use the sun's rays to shine on her and bring her back from the dead, so he could only sigh alone.
The girl died, and her spirit turned into a small bird, with a flower head, a white beak, and red claws, and a sad cry of "Jingwei, Jingwei", so people called this bird "Jingwei".
Jingwei hates the merciless sea for taking her young life, and she wants revenge. Therefore, she kept taking a pebble from the Fat Dove Mountain, where she lived, and spread her wings and flew high until she reached the East China Sea. She roared back and forth on the rough sea, throwing down the branches of the pebbles to fill the sea.
The sea rushed, roaring, and laughed at her: "Little bird, forget it, you will do this work for a million years, and you will not want to fill me up!" ”
Jingwei replied to the sea at a high altitude: "Even if you work for 10 million years, 10,000 years, until the end of the universe, the end of the world, I will eventually fill you up!" ”
"Why do you hate me so much?"
"Because you took my young life, you will take many young innocent lives in the future. I'm going to do it endlessly, and one day I'll fill you to the ground. ”
Jingwei flew and chirped, left the sea, and flew back to the mountain to fetch stones and branches. She held, throws, grown, flies back and forth, never stops. Later, when a petrel flew over the East China Sea, he accidentally saw Jingwei, and he was puzzled by her behavior, but after understanding the cause of the incident, Haiyan was moved by Jingwei's fearless spirit, and married him, and gave birth to many small birds, the female like Jingwei and the male like Haiyan. Xiao Jingwei, like their mother, also went to the stone to reclaim the sea. To this day, they are still doing this work.
Story Inspiration: Jingwei's perseverance, kind wishes, and grand ambitions are respected by people. Tao Yuanming, a poet of the Jin Dynasty, wrote in the poem: "Jingwei is a micro-wood, and the sea will be filled with it", warmly praising the tragic fighting spirit of Jingwei birds who dare to fight against the sea. Later generations often used "Jingwei reclamation" as a metaphor for the arduous and outstanding undertakings engaged in by people with lofty ideals.
People sympathize with Jingwei, admire Jingwei, call it "Bird of Injustice", "Oath Bird", "Zhi Bird", "Emperor Bird", and set up a monument on the edge of the East China Sea, called "Jingwei Oath Water Place".
