Founded in 1961, the National Agricultural Cooperative Federation, commonly known as NongHyup, is a farmer‑owned self‑help agricultural cooperative organization in South‑Korea. It aims to raise farmers’ income, boost agricultural competitiveness and stabilize domestic food supply. Its diversified businesses cover financial services, agricultural product distribution, farming support, rural education and community development. NongHyup Bank, its well‑known financial arm, is one of Korea’s major domestic banks. Its nationwide supermarket chain, Hanaro‑Mart, mainly supplies home‑grown fresh fruits, vegetables, meat and processed farm goods, building a direct sales channel linking local farmers with consumers. Supported by an extensive network of grassroots cooperatives, NongHyup helps farmers cut distribution costs and expand sales channels, while providing traceable, high‑quality domestic farm‑products for customers. It also promotes Korean agricultural exports and plays an essential role in national food security and rural‑economy revitalization across South‑Korea.
