Kyung Hee Medical Center officially opened in 1971. It is one of the largest hospitals in Asia, with 1,000 beds, affiliated to Kyung Hee University, located on Kyung Hee University Road, Dongdaemun-gu, Seoul. The center consists of 4 professional hospitals: Kyung Hee University Hospital, Kyung Hee University Dental Hospital, Kyung Hee University Oriental Medicine Hospital, and Humanitas Cancer Hospital, forming a comprehensive medical service system covering general medical care, dentistry, oriental medicine, and cancer treatment. As the only medical institution in Seoul with a tertiary hospital (medical university hospital, dental hospital, Korean medicine hospital) system, the center is in a leading position in many medical fields, especially in the field of oriental medicine, having successfully carried out the world's first painless acupuncture anesthesia in 1972.
